Junior Network Engineer

Missions

Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, voice gateway, VPN, QoS)

Supervise the racking and stacking team on the telecommunications construction panel

Collaborate with the Network Architect on Network Design

Prepare and work on network design documents

Perform on-site installation, integration, and testing activities

Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, quick fixes, and security configurations

Provide support and troubleshooting

Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes to the network infrastructure

Liaise with vendors and other staff to resolve issues

Monitoring progress at the site and preparing weekly "look-ahead" to maintain agreed goals and milestones

Compliance with company HSE regulations

Desired profile

Computer Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Network Engineer

Knowledge of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks

Knowledge and experience in IP/MPLS is a plus

In-depth understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)

Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model

Hands-on experience on configuring and maintaining Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, voice gateway

Proven experience in preparing network design documents

Proven mastery of Microsoft Office tools: word, excel, visio

Previous experience with racking and stacking is an asset

Understanding fiber optic networking is an asset
