Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Raw Material Testing Steel Sheets
- Inspect incoming raw materials for packaging and physical appearance to ensure they meet required specifications.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with ROCK WOOL s standards and safety regulations.
- Determine the number of samples to be taken based on the packing list and testing requirements.
- Supervise sample preparation to ensure validity for testing.
- Oversee preparation of testing solutions (e.g., for galvanization) to guarantee accuracy.
- Conduct laboratory tests on prepared steel sheet samples to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Prepare detailed test reports highlighting conformity or deviations, and share with relevant departments.
- Compile statistical reports on raw material test results (steel, polystyrene, others), including supplier names, for supplier evaluation. Reports are submitted monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually to the department manager.
Final Product Testing
- Assign lab technicians to collect density samples from the final product during production to verify proper foam distribution; notify Quality and Production Engineers in case of discrepancies.
- Supervise cutting of product samples to ensure accuracy, proper technique, and compliance with standards.
- Oversee preparation of samples for tensile testing, including preparation of adhesives, ensuring test reliability.
- Conduct final product tests to confirm compliance with quality standards.
- Prepare and submit test reports on final products, noting any observations or non-conformities.
- Review all lab records and forward them to the archiving department.
- Compile statistical reports on final product testing results, including improvement suggestions if applicable, and submit them on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis.
White Foam (Polystyrene) Testing
- Supervise sampling of white foam (polystyrene), ensuring samples are taken from varied points for accurate results.
- Perform density tests on foam samples and issue acceptance/rejection reports to the relevant departments with justifications.
- Prepare periodic statistical reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual) on foam test results for supplier evaluation.
Other Tests
- Carry out any additional tests requested on raw materials or final products.
- Develop and document new testing methods and sample preparation procedures in line with international standards whenever new tests are introduced.
Laboratory Equipment
- Ensure all lab equipment undergoes regular calibration to maintain test accuracy; report any calibration needs.
- Arrange maintenance with specialized companies when required.
- Operate equipment correctly and safely to avoid damage and extend service life.
- Inspect lab equipment daily and report any losses or malfunctions to the department manager.
Lab Materials & Supplies
- Prepare the laboratory budget and submit it to the department manager.
- Monitor stock levels of lab materials and tools; raise purchase requests when necessary to avoid workflow interruptions.
Lab Technicians
- Monitor technician performance, provide proper training, and guide them through correct work procedures.
Customer Samples Steel
- Coordinate with warehouses for crane support to prepare steel rolls for sampling.
- Inspect customer samples before packaging, label them clearly, and ensure delivery of samples that meet specifications.
Certifications
- Ensure compliance with standards required for company certifications to avoid non-conformities.
Lab Cleanliness
- Supervise daily cleanliness of the laboratory to maintain a safe and professional working environment, always ready for client visits.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Follow all HSE guidelines, wear protective equipment, and take precautions to minimize risks and prevent injuries.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering or Science.
- 4 6 years of relevant professional experience preferably within ROCK WOOL or a similar insulation/manufacturing company.
Skills:
- Strong command of the English language (spoken and written).
- Excellent computer literacy and ability to use related software applications.
- Solid understanding of occupational safety and health procedures.
