A Laboratory Technician (also known as a Lab Tech or Medical Lab Technician) is a professional who supports scientific and medical research, testing, and analysis in various laboratory settings. They play a crucial role in ensuring accurate data collection, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety standards. Lab technicians work in fields like healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, forensics, and research institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Sample Collection and Preparation: Collect, label, and prepare biological, chemical, or environmental samples for testing (e.g., blood, tissue, soil, or water).
• Performing Tests and Experiments: Conduct routine laboratory tests using equipment like microscopes, centrifuges, spectrometers, or automated analyzers. This may include chemical analyses, microbiological cultures, or quality control checks.
• Data Recording and Analysis: Record results accurately in logs, databases, or reports; perform basic data analysis and troubleshoot anomalies.
• Equipment Maintenance: Clean, calibrate, and maintain lab instruments to ensure reliability and safety.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow strict protocols for handling hazardous materials, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to regulations (e.g., OSHA standards in the US or equivalent elsewhere).
