Roles & Responsibilities
Description: The role of a laboratory technician involves the physical and chemical testing of raw materials and finished good materials used in the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities: Physical and Chemical Testing: Performing a variety of tests using specialized equipment to measure key properties: Mud weight/density using a mud balance, Viscosity and rheology using viscometers. API and High-Temperature, High-Pressure Filtration loss test, Electrical stability and emulsion testing
Lab Technician supports research and product development activities by conducting laboratory tests, preparing samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and accurately documenting results. The role is essential for ensuring experiments are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Desired Candidate Profile
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Qualification: A high school diploma, technical certificate, or a degree in chemistry is typically required.
Experience: 2-5 years of experience in an industrial or oilfield laboratory testing is preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Foundational knowledge of drilling fluids chemistry (both oil based and water-based mud systems), API testing methods, and familiarity with lab instruments.
Personal Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
