Position Overview:

The Lab Technician specializing in phlebotomy is responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing, analysis, and diagnosis. This role requires precision, strong interpersonal skills, and strict adherence to safety and quality protocols.


Key Responsibilities:


Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using proper techniques.


Identify patients accurately and verify test orders before specimen collection.


Prepare and label blood samples correctly to ensure traceability.


Handle and process blood specimens for testing according to laboratory standards.


Maintain cleanliness and sterility of phlebotomy equipment and collection areas.


Monitor patients during and after blood collection for any adverse reactions.


Follow infection control and safety procedures to prevent contamination.


Document patient information and phlebotomy procedures accurately in lab records.


Assist with managing phlebotomy supplies and equipment inventory.


Provide excellent patient care, including explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns.


Collaborate with medical staff and laboratory personnel to ensure efficient workflow.


Qualifications:


Certificate or diploma in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field.
