Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic test results.

Manage and supervise laboratory staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory and accreditation standards, safety protocols, and quality control requirements.

Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies and procedures to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery.

Monitor laboratory equipment to ensure proper calibration, maintenance, functionality, and troubleshooting.

Manage inventory, procurement, and utilization of laboratory supplies and reagents in a cost-effective manner while minimizing waste.

Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret laboratory findings and support clinical decision-making.

Conduct regular audits, assessments, and reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and identify opportunities for improvement.

Develop and manage the laboratory budget, including expense monitoring, cost control, and financial planning.

Address and resolve operational, personnel, and patient-care-related issues within the laboratory.

Stay updated on advancements in laboratory technology, diagnostic testing procedures, and medical practices to enhance laboratory services.

Facilitate continuous education, training, and professional development programs for laboratory personnel.

Ensure the laboratory consistently meets or exceeds quality assurance and performance standards through ongoing evaluations and corrective actions.

Develop and implement protocols for the proper handling, processing, storage, and documentation of biological specimens.

Coordinate with other departments, including pathology, radiology, and nursing, to ensure seamless integration of laboratory services into patient care.

Oversee laboratory safety programs and ensure all staff are properly trained in handling hazardous materials and biological specimens.

Participate in the preparation and implementation of laboratory budgets and financial plans aligned with organizational goals and available resources.

Investigate laboratory errors, discrepancies, or non-conformities in test results and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

Serve as the primary liaison with external regulatory authorities, accreditation agencies, and health departments during inspections and audits.

Develop and implement strategies to improve laboratory efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and enhance patient satisfaction.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma or Certificate program in Laboratory Technology (minimum 2 years duration) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a Medical Laboratory setting.
  • Currently licensed in the country of origin and holding a valid DOH/DHA/MOH license to practice in the UAE.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Ability to learn and handle laboratory automation systems and IT programs is desirable but not essential.
