Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to quality control and safety protocols for geotechnical and materials testing.
  • Supervise a team of technicians, providing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to foster a high-performing and knowledgeable team.
  • Coordinate and schedule testing activities, managing workload and resources efficiently to meet project deadlines and client requirements.
  • Review and interpret test results, providing accurate and timely reports and recommendations for geotechnical and materials analysis.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to industry standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Develop and implement laboratory procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and ensure data accuracy.
  • Manage inventory of materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost-effective procurement practices.
  • Liaise with clients, project managers, and engineers to discuss project requirements, address concerns, and provide technical support.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new testing methods, and relevant regulations to maintain technical expertise and improve laboratory practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, including ASTM, AASHTO, and local regulations, and manage the laboratory's accreditation.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field, providing a strong technical foundation.
  • Holds relevant certifications, such as those from NICET or similar organizations, demonstrating commitment to professional standards.
  • Offers a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in geotechnical and materials testing, showcasing practical expertise.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of industry-specific experience, including experience with construction, infrastructure, or environmental projects.
  • Exhibits proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and report writing, effectively communicating technical information.
  • Possesses strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in supervising and mentoring laboratory staff.
