Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Develop instrumentation design plans, define scope of work, key deliverables, and schedules.

  • Ensure design outputs meet technical, financial, and scheduling objectives.
  • Monitor and track instrumentation design progress to maintain alignment with project timelines.
  • Coordinate instrumentation design with other engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, civil, process) to ensure seamless integration.
  • Manage interfaces between instrumentation engineering and procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to avoid delays.
  • Lead and mentor instrumentation design teams, including internal staff and external consultants/contractors.
  • Provide technical direction, performance guidance, and support professional development of team members.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate instrumentation design risks that could impact cost, schedule, or quality.
  • Ensure designs comply with international standards, industry codes, and client specifications.
  • Implement design reviews, safety checks, and quality assurance processes to ensure design integrity.
  • Act as the focal point for all instrumentation design-related discussions with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Provide updates and progress reports on design status, milestones, and challenges to senior management.
  • Evaluate and manage scope changes, ensuring impacts are documented and communicated.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize instrumentation designs for cost efficiency without compromising functionality or safety.
  • Prepare technical specifications and assist procurement with vendor evaluation and selection.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure instrumentation equipment and systems meet specifications and project schedules.
  • Support construction teams by resolving design-related issues during project execution.
  • Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, ensuring all instrumentation systems are tested, calibrated, and validated before client handover.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelors degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in instrumentation design within EPC projects, with at least 5 years in a lead or senior designer role.
  • Proven expertise in instrumentation systems design (DCS, ESD, F&G, SCADA, field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary coordination and large-scale EPC projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to support site activities during construction and commissioning phases.
