Roles & Responsibilities


The Key Objectives For This Role Are

  • Ensure development and maintenance of detailed project schedules aligned with construction milestones and contract deliverables.
  • Monitor site progress and proactively address deviations through reforecasting and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate closely with construction, procurement, and engineering teams to validate schedule inputs and identify risks.
  • Support management with regular performance reports, look-ahead plans, and scenario analyses.
  • Uphold planning standards, procedures, and compliance with project control protocols across site teams.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or similar tools, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and construction milestones.
  • Monitor on-site progress against baseline schedules and work plans; analyze variances and recommend recovery strategies where delays are identified.
  • Coordinate closely with construction, engineering, procurement, and subcontractor teams to gather input and validate schedule updates and forecasts.
  • Lead the preparation of weekly and monthly project reports, including progress curves, look-ahead schedules, and delay analysis.
  • Implement and maintain planning procedures and reporting standards, ensuring schedule control is in full compliance with project governance.
  • Support claims and change management processes by providing schedule impact assessments and time extension justifications.
  • Mentor and guide junior planners and site schedulers, ensuring consistency, quality, and accuracy in planning deliverables.
  • Engage with clients and key stakeholders during progress meetings and site walkthroughs to provide clear updates and projections.
  • Identify planning-related risks and opportunities early and work collaboratively to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in project controls, with at least 5 years in a lead role overseeing large-scale, site-based projects.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; a master s degree is an added advantage.
  • Experience in the middle east is preferred
  • Be a team player where recognition of team performance as a whole is a greater priority than projecting individual contribution
  • Be able to work in a team environment and handle multiple project responsibilities
  • Assuring that work and project promises are successfully delivered and appropriate reviews have been conducted
  • Establishing and maintaining engineering processes, systems and tools (software)
