Roles & Responsibilities

The Department of Business and Economics at the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS), Muscat, Oman, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in FinTech / Financial Technology. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching, applied and scholarly research, industry engagement, curriculum development, and quality assurance activities aligned with MCBS priorities and international accreditation expectations.

Core teaching areas may include:

Financial Technology; Digital Banking; Blockchain Applications in Finance; AI and Analytics in Finance; Digital Payments and Financial Innovation; Financial Data Analytics; Islamic FinTech where applicable; Risk, Regulation, and Compliance in FinTech.

Key responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in FinTech, finance, business technology, and related areas in face-to-face, online, and blended modes.

Develop course syllabi, course learning outcomes, assessment plans, rubrics, case studies, and digital learning materials aligned with program learning outcomes.

Integrate emerging financial technologies, analytics tools, industry cases, and Oman/GCC examples into teaching.

Conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals; pursue applied research, grants, consultancy, and industry collaboration where appropriate.

Support student advising, supervision of projects, internships, capstones, and employability-related initiatives.

Participate in curriculum review, Assurance of Learning, moderation, program assessment, accreditation evidence preparation, and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications:

Assistant/Associate Professor: PhD/DBA in FinTech, Finance, Financial Economics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Digital Banking, or a closely related field from a recognized university.

Associate Professor candidates should demonstrate a sustained record of peer-reviewed publications, academic leadership, student supervision, and service.

Evidence of teaching effectiveness and ability to teach online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.

Bilingual Arabic-English communication is preferred; ability to teach in Arabic is an advantage for relevant programs.

Experience with quality assurance, AACSB/OAAAQA/OQF-aligned assessment, CLO/PLO mapping, moderation, and accreditation documentation is strongly preferred.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

Professional certifications or industry experience in digital banking, payments, analytics, blockchain, compliance, risk management, or financial services.

Experience with applied projects, case-based teaching, executive education, or industry partnerships.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to MCBS research, innovation, societal impact, and external engagement agendas.
