Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the library, including opening, closing, and maintaining a safe, quiet, and professional environment.

Supervise circulation services, including issuing, returning, and renewing library materials.

Maintain accurate cataloging, classification, and shelving of books and digital materials using recognized library standards (e.g., Dewey Decimal System or Library of Congress Classification).

Monitor and manage inventory through regular audits and updates in the library management system.

Assist students, faculty, and staff in locating, accessing, and using library resources effectively.

Support users in accessing e-resources, databases, and academic platforms (e.g., Saudi Digital Library, ClinicalKey, etc.).

Conduct orientation sessions and workshops on information literacy and library usage for new students and faculty.

Respond to inquiries and service requests with professionalism and efficiency.

Assist in evaluating, selecting, and acquiring new books, journals, and electronic resources based on academic requirements.

Maintain accurate records of acquisitions, subscriptions, renewals, and library transactions.

Coordinate with academic departments to update reading lists and ensure availability of required course materials.

Enforce library policies related to borrowing, late returns, and user conduct.

Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and copyright regulations.

Safeguard confidentiality and security of user data and records.

Prepare periodic operational reports covering library usage, new acquisitions, and user satisfaction.

Collaborate with Academic Affairs and Program Heads to align library resources with curriculum and accreditation needs.

Participate in academic committees, quality assurance activities, and institutional meetings as required.

Attend workshops, training sessions, and professional development programs to stay updated on library trends and best practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor s degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management, or a related field.

Previous library experience, preferably in an academic environment, is an advantage.

Strong knowledge of library cataloging systems and classification standards (Dewey, LC, MARC, etc.).

Familiarity with academic databases and e-library platforms.

Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.

Proficiency in MS Office and library management systems.

Professional, patient, and service-oriented attitude.
