Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Carry out annual and five-yearly inspections, maintenance, and servicing of lifeboats and their launching appliances onboard vessels, in accordance with IMO, SOLAS, and OEM guidelines. Perform overhauling, inspection, and repair of davits and winches, ensuring safe and reliable operation. Conduct wire rope renewal, tensioning, and associated load testing activities as per regulatory standards. Identify defects, recommend corrective actions, and carry out necessary repairs to ensure compliance and safety. Prepare inspection reports, service records, and certification documentation accurately and on time. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety procedures, company policies, and applicable maritime regulations. Coordinate with vessel crew, supervisors, and classification societies during inspections and tests. Maintain tools, equipment, and testing devices in good working condition. Stay updated with OEM requirements and attend refresher or OEM training when required.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a Diploma or equivalent in Marine Engineering or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Holds relevant certifications, such as a Coxswain certificate, BOSIET, or similar, demonstrating a commitment to safety and industry standards.
  • Demonstrates 4-5 years of hands-on experience in servicing lifeboats and davits, showcasing practical expertise and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of lifeboat and davit systems, including hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical components, crucial for effective service.
