Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Operates and drives UNSCOL's vehicles. Ensures safe and secure driving of VIPs, senior officers, and other authorized personnel.
  • Liaises closely with the Security Unit, determining vehicular requirements, and ensures that necessary vehicles, including armored/4X4, are made available when required.
  • Takes instruction from the Logistics Assistant regarding specific tasks to be performed and ensures appropriate information sharing among all on logistic matters and coordinates these with CP Units of UNSCOL if needed.
  • Ensures that all vehicles are in full working condition and are always well-maintained.
  • Monitors the vehicles at all times for any mechanical problems that may arise and ensures that routine maintenance is carried out as per the maintenance schedules.
  • Assists with the collection and delivery of mail and documents to and from other UN agencies, embassies, governmental institutions, and ministries.
  • Meets official personnel at the airport, which may include working during weekends, holidays, and after-working hours.
  • Facilitates immigration and customs clearances and other formalities as required.
  • Maintains records for official UNSCOL vehicles (detailing mileage, refueling, destinations, users, and service history).
  • Ensures that all UNSCOL's vehicles are fully compliant with the minimum operating security standards through conducting regular spot checks and reports deficiencies to the security focal point, ensuring the appropriate acquisition of equipment.
  • Ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations, transport manual and UNSCOL SOPs are taken while driving and in case of involvement in an accident.
  • Applies good judgement in the context of assignments given and performs ad hoc functions as and when required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
