Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a Linux Support Engineer who will play a critical role in supporting customers, troubleshooting broadcast systems, and maintaining Linux-based servers used for live streaming, DVB processing, and transcoding.
This role requires a solid background in Linux system administration, network configuration, and command-line tools. The engineer will also receive in-depth training on PikoTV products and video broadcasting technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Tier-2 technical support for Linux-based broadcast servers and streaming systems.
- Configure and manage network interfaces (ifconfig, netplan, routes, VLANs, bridges).
- Perform packet analysis using tools such as tcpdump, wireshark, and multicat.
- Manage and analyze SNMP traps, syslog, and NTP synchronization between devices.
- Compile, patch, and install kernel modules and device drivers for DVB cards or network interfaces.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to multicast, IGMP, and UDP transport streams.
- Perform log analysis, write support reports, and communicate solutions in English.
- Collaborate with development teams for software debugging and field deployment feedback.
- Maintain documentation of support cases, network setups, and customer configurations.
- Strong background in Linux system administration (Ubuntu is preferred).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Compiling and installing applications, drivers, and kernel modules from source.
- Using tcpdump, netstat, ifconfig, iproute2, snmpwalk, dmesg, journalctl, and syslog.
- Configuring NTP, SNMP, and syslog servers.
- Understanding of network protocols (UDP, TCP, Multicast, IGMP, DNS).
- Ability to analyze network packet captures and detect loss or jitter.
- Basic scripting skills in bash and go for automation.
- English proficiency (written and spoken).
