Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test low voltage cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and other specialized cables, ensuring adherence to industry standards and project specifications.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with low voltage systems such as security, access control, fire alarm, and audio-visual systems, employing diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance on low voltage systems, including inspections, cleaning, and component replacement, to ensure optimal system performance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to understand system designs and installation requirements, ensuring accurate installations.
- Configure and program low voltage devices, including control panels, cameras, and access control readers, according to project requirements and client specifications.
- Collaborate with project managers, other technicians, and clients to coordinate installations, resolve issues, and ensure project completion within deadlines.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, including documenting system configurations and changes.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and evolving codes and regulations related to low voltage systems, through continuous learning and professional development.
Desired Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; vocational training or an associate degree in electronics or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as NICET, BICSI, or manufacturer-specific certifications are highly desirable, demonstrating expertise and commitment.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems is expected.
- A strong understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations is mandatory, ensuring safe and compliant installations.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics is essential for accurate installations and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in using testing equipment such as multi-meters, cable testers, and network analyzers is critical for diagnosing and resolving issues.
- Must possess the physical ability to lift and carry equipment, work at heights, and work in various weather conditions.
