Roles & Responsibilities

As we expand our operations in North Africa, STOOS Consulting is seeking a Research and M&E Field Manager to support an upcoming assignment in Tunisia, overseeing field operations and ensuring the successful implementation of data collection activities. The role requires strong experience in M&E coordination, local stakeholder engagement, and field management within diverse Tunisian contexts.

Position: Field Manager (Tunisia-based)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and supervision of field data collection across target locations in Tunisia, ensuring compliance with ethical standards, data protection policies, and local regulations.
  • Recruit, train, and manage enumerator teams, ensuring high-quality, timely, and inclusive data collection in both urban and rural settings.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations to facilitate smooth field operations and ensure local acceptance of research activities.
  • Oversee data quality control, conduct spot checks, and troubleshoot operational issues during fieldwork to maintain methodological integrity.
  • Provide regular field progress updates and analytical inputs to the STOOS central coordination and M&E teams.
  • Ensure that gender and inclusion considerations are integrated throughout data collection and team management processes.

Desired Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience managing research, survey, or M&E fieldwork in Tunisia or the Maghreb region.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead enumerator teams and manage multi-site data collection under tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of digital data collection platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO) and familiarity with data verification and quality assurance techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic (Tunisian dialect) and French; proficiency in English is an asset for coordination and reporting with international teams.
  • Familiarity with local administrative structures, community dynamics, and logistical environments across Tunisia s regions.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational and problem-solving skills in dynamic field environments.
