The Saudi Arabian Mining Company, popularly known as Ma’aden was founded in 1997 under a royal decree. It is a diversified mining company actively involved in base metal mining and infrastructure activities. Currently, the largest mining company in Saudi Arabia, Ma’aden is headquartered in Riyadh. In 2008, the company’s shares were floated on the Saudi Stock Exchange.
Initially, focused on gold mining activities, the company later diversified into exploration activities, mining of other metals such as phosphate, aluminum, industrial minerals, operational sites and of late infrastructure. Driven by the mission of becoming a world class minerals enterprise, Ma’aden focuses on three main values of integrity, care, teamwork and ownership.
Since the company’s major focus is on mineral exploration, evaluating new mineral fields across the region is its main goal. Of late, exploration of phosphate and bauxite are also being major exploration domains of the company. Now, the company has been consistently focusing on the aspect of infrastructure—developing railways, ports and also a wide range of common infrastructure are some of the things that the organization focuses on.
