Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Machining & Fabrication Operations:
Operate lathes, grinders, and other machining tools to produce, repair, or modify parts for terminal equipment (QC, RTG, RS,ECH,ITVs).
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals for accurate fabrication.
Select appropriate materials, tools, and machine settings for each task.
Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and quality using precision measuring instruments.
Equipment Repair Support:
Assist maintenance teams in fabricating replacement parts for mechanical failures.
Modify or adjust components to meet operational requirements.
Collaborate with technicians and engineers to troubleshoot equipment issues requiring machining support
Preventive Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of machine tools to ensure consistent performance.
Report machine faults, wear, or malfunctions promptly to the workshop supervisor.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the workshop.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow DP World workshop safety standards, including proper handling of tools, machinery, and materials.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to lockout/tagout procedures.
Collaboration:
Coordinate with workshop supervisors to meet maintenance schedules.
Assist in training or guiding junior machinists when required
Desired Candidate Profile
Technical diploma, vocational certification, or equivalent in machining, mechanical engineering, or related field.
Minimum 2 3 years of experience in machining, fabrication, or maintenance support, preferably in heavy machinery or container terminal equipment.
Strong knowledge of lathes, milling machines, grinders, cutting tools, and precision measurement instruments.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to quality and safety.
Physically fit and safety-conscious, capable of working in workshop and terminal environments.
Good communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with maintenance and operations teams.
