Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Maintenance Electrical / Electro-Mechanical Foreman is responsible for supervising and executing all electrical and electro-mechanical maintenance activities within the poultry slaughterhouse. The role ensures maximum equipment uptime, safe operations, and reliable performance of slaughterhouse systems including bird receiving, slaughtering, evisceration, HVAC, Linco and Bader systems, and associated PLC/SCADA-controlled automation.

Key Responsibilities

Slaughterhouse Electrical & Electro-Mechanical Maintenance

  • Perform and supervise maintenance activities from bird receiving to evisceration and processing lines.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot Linco, Bader, and similar poultry processing systems.

  • Carry out machine adjustments during product changeovers to ensure quality and yield.

  • Coordinate with production teams to minimize downtime and support daily production targets.

Automation, PLC & SCADA Systems

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of PLC-based machines and automation systems.

  • Monitor and diagnose system issues using SCADA platforms.

  • Support I/O checks, sensors, interlocks, and safety circuits.

  • Coordinate with OEMs or automation engineers for advanced issues.

VFD, Motors & Drives

  • Troubleshoot and configure VFDs including parameter checks and replacements.

  • Maintain induction and servo motors including wiring, alignment, and fault diagnosis.

  • Ensure correct motor protection, grounding, and load conditions.

Gearbox & Pneumatic Systems

  • Perform gearbox inspection, lubrication, alignment, and fault diagnosis.

  • Maintain pneumatic systems including solenoid valves, actuators, and air preparation units.

  • Diagnose air pressure and valve response issues affecting machine performance.

HVAC & Utility Systems

  • Understand HVAC system principles and maintenance procedures.

  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of HVAC systems supporting processing areas.

  • Ensure temperature and airflow requirements are maintained.

Preventive Maintenance & Documentation

  • Execute and monitor preventive maintenance programs.

  • Ensure maintenance records, breakdown logs, and corrective actions are properly documented.

  • Support spare parts planning and inventory control.

Food Safety & Occupational Safety

  • Perform maintenance activities in compliance with HACCP.

  • Enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and electrical safety procedures.

  • Ensure hygienic maintenance practices to prevent contamination risks.

Team Supervision

  • Lead and supervise electrical and electro-mechanical technicians.

  • Assign tasks, provide technical guidance, and monitor work quality.

  • Train technicians on safe work practices and troubleshooting techniques.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education & Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or Mechanical Engineering

  • Trade certification or vocational training in industrial electrical systems is an advantage

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on experience in poultry Slaughtering plant.

  • Strong experience in slaughterhouse and evisceration system maintenance.

  • Proven hands-on expertise with Linco, Baader, or similar poultry processing equipment.

  • Extensive experience with PLC-controlled machinery, VFDs, motors, and automation systems.
