Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Position Purpose
An O&M (Operations & Maintenance) Electrical Engineer for a 220 kV substation is
responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of highvoltage electrical systems and equipment. This role involves executing preventive
maintenance, resolving system issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry
standards to guarantee uninterrupted power transmission.
Overall Responsibilities
The aforementioned position will be responsible, and expected to carry out the below indicative,
and not limited, activities:
1. Ensure all substation activities comply with local, national, and international safety and
regulatory standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
2. Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols,
such as lockout-tagout (LOTO) and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
3. Oversee the daily operations of the 220 kV substation, monitoring equipment such as
transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, and busbars.
4. Respond promptly to system alarms and faults, ensuring minimal interruption to service.
5. Utilize SCADA systems for real-time monitoring, control, and analysis of substation
performance to ensure efficiency and reliability.
6. Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for high-voltage equipment to
maintain peak operational efficiency and extend equipment lifespan.
7. Perform routine inspections, testing, and servicing of electrical systems, including
transformers, protection relays, and grounding systems.
8. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, testing results, and equipment
performance log.
9. Generate operational and maintenance reports, summarizing key performance indicators
(KPIs) and highlighting any incidents or issues.

Requirements
• At least 03 years of experience working in high-voltage
substations, specifically at 220 kV or higher
• Minimum of 04 years of experience with a proven track record in
managing S/S O&M activities.
• Proven experience in maintenance planning (scheduling).

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
