Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Maintenance Supervisor (Electric/Electronics) is a technical operations expert responsible for the on-ground implementation and supervision of maintenance strategies and activities. The role ensures that all maintenance tasks are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with job specifications, quality standards, and company procedures.

The Supervisor provides hands-on technical guidance to maintenance teams, promotes a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with all relevant Integrated Management System (IMS) standards and safety protocols.

All staff are accountable for their own safety and for ensuring the safety of others. The Supervisor plays a key role in enabling a safe work environment by effectively communicating risks, reviewing safety documentation, and participating in safety and health investigations and reports.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply technical skills and knowledge to ensure that production throughput targets and objectives are achieved safely and efficiently, in alignment with section plans, KPIs, and Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions (QSTS) values and IMS standards.

  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with company values and ensure adherence to policies, standards, procedures, and applicable legislative requirements.

  • Reduce production variability through effective cost optimization and minimization of rework.

  • Comply with all health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) procedures and ensure a safe working environment for self and others.

  • Ensure compliance with quality management procedures to deliver high-quality maintenance services and outcomes.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

  • Conduct performance tests on plant and machinery; identify and report any irregularities.

  • Plan and manage spare parts requirements to ensure availability and cost control.

  • Provide inputs to the Section Engineer/Section Manager for maintenance work scheduling and planning.

  • Ensure maintenance activities are executed per the job card, schedule, and technical specifications.

  • Utilize materials and resources efficiently and economically.

  • Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and recommend preventive measures.

  • Guide and support maintenance personnel in performing electrical and electronic maintenance activities.

  • Inspect and ensure proper care, use, and storage of tools, equipment, and consumables.

  • Maintain good housekeeping and organize the workplace to ensure safety and efficiency.

  • Obtain and manage all necessary safety permits (PTW) prior to commencing work.

  • Supervise work progress and report updates or issues to the Section Manager.

  • Regularly update maintenance activities and records in the Plant & Machinery (P&M) SAP module.

  • Communicate training needs, improvement suggestions, and support their implementation.

  • Encourage the workforce to actively participate in hazard reporting and safety initiatives in line with QSTS policy.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior.

  • Promote a culture of wellbeing by prioritizing personal and team health and safety, participating in wellness programs, and promptly reporting any wellbeing concerns.

Desired Candidate Profile

Trade Certificate (2-year course) in Electronics or Electrical specialization from a recognized institute.

Degree holders: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.

Diploma holders: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
