Roles & Responsibilities


Duties and Responsibilities (shall include but not be limited to):

Perform emergency duties as per Station Bill and Emergency Procedures manual.

Effectively participate in the Stop Observe Act Report (SOAR) program and encourage active participation.

Comply with and effectively contribute to the continuous improvement of RMS, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) related policies and procedures, and relevant authority regulatory requirements.

Maintain ownership of the maintenance system on the rig and associated processes.

Participate with technical crew in risk assessments.

Ensure the safe and cost-effective operation of mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with statutory regulations and the company s procedures.

Monitor continuous machinery surveys according to classification societies.

Ensure watch keeping duties are carried out in a competent manner.

Follow-up on requirements from classification society or certifying authority where applicable and on certain occasions from flag state inspection and third-party audits.

Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right the first time, every time, and contribute actively to continual improvement activities.

Comply with company s Code of Conduct.

Ensure that all machinery temporarily installed on the rig for use by contractors is acceptable, correctly certified where necessary and installed in a manner to satisfy the company and the classification/certifying authorities.

Maintain responsibility for inspections and witness the sign-off on all tests on third party equipment; responsibility for inspection may be delegated to another competent person.

Plan, service and maintain equipment and in-service inspections according to planned maintenance system and classification society.

Coordinate activities with the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM)/Rig Drilling Superintendent and communicate information relating to operational or maintenance problems involving other departments.

Ensure all modifications are approved according to the appropriate level of authorization.

Ensure that all hoses are identified, installed, inspected, and maintained as per manufactures recommendations; ensure all personnel concerned with the manufacture, fitting and maintenance of hoses are competent.

Issue and distribute work orders on a weekly or monthly basis or delegate the responsibility to the various department heads.

Ensure that all maintenance work carried out by the maintenance department has been recorded by the person carrying out the maintenance work.

Maintain budgetary control within his/her area of responsibility.

Plan work before work commences and manage hazards effectively.

Coordinate all modifications with the electrical/mechanical engineering and technical departments.

Assist with inventories of spare parts and material requisitions.

Ensure that when assets are changed out or the asset configuration is changed all critical spare parts are systemtically identitied utilizing asset bill of materials and the component information is given to ARO Supply Chain to be updated in the CMMS.

Oversee all aspects of the routine maintenance system including computer functions and other documentation; manage the archiving of maintenance activities involving company equipment and associated maintenance, repair, modification, or procurement certifications.

Examine legislation and assist with ensuring company compliance.

Show active participation in Hazard Management and Stop Work activities.

Effectively contribute to Management of Change and Non-Conformance Management through compliance with Change and Non-Conformance Procedures.

Act as contact and liaison for regulatory agency bodies with regard to equipment and other relevant legislation.

Inspect equipment and standards of maintenance on rigs; assist offshore personnel with maintenance and repair functions.

Ensure adherence to company policy and procedures.

Assist in the mentoring process in accordance with the Mentoring Program, as required.

Demonstrate leadership through personal responsibility and accountability.

Participate in Competence Program.

Assist management and relevant personnel to ensure training requirements are met as per the applicable training matrix.

Ensure that all subordinates have the necessary skills and experience to fulfill assigned tasks, in accordance with Company Preventive Maintenance program.

Maintain discipline on board to ensure compliance with company disciplinary procedures.

Advise all personnel assigned to him/her of their duties, responsibilities, and necessary safety precautions prior to start-up of any work.

Conduct formal and informal performance appraisals, which include measuring performance.

Promptly report all accidents, near-miss accidents, and non-conformances through the proper channels.

Be well acquainted with the legislation in respect to the working environment and safety and ensure that the Company's safety and environmental policy is adhered to.

Maintain a safe working environment and ensure the safety of all subordinates.

Ability to Cordinate and execute plans during Rig down situation in a safe and efficient manner

Desired Candidate Profile


Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in a Senior Maintenance Role on an offshore facility, or 5 years offshore experience as a Field Service Technician with a service company like NOV, Cameron, Seatrax, Letourneau or Caterpillar.

Accredited Trade School certificate in Heavy duty Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, Hydraulics, Electrical or Electronics preferred, or military training in same. Engineer license also preferred.

Must complete the ARO on the Job Training (OJT) program for Maintenance Supervisor.

Valid Universal technician HVAC License.

Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Ability to read and interpret Electrical and Mechanical drawings.

Complete the mandatory trainings for this position such as: Rig Orientation, SA-HUET, H2S-SA, OGUK Medical, PHO, SPAW & SFA/CPR/AED).

Proficient with Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Excel, Power Point and Word.

Thorough knowledge in the operation and maintenance of power generation, distribution, and control systems such as generators, VFD, SCR, PLC, Switchgear.

Thorough knowledge in the operation and maintenance of drilling equipment such as cranes, top drives, draw works and mud pumps.

Thorough knowledge in the operation and maintenance of marine engineering systems such as water, fuel, HVAC, and main engines.

Ability to objectively analyze data, arrive at logical conclusions and make decisions in high-pressure situations. (e.g. downtime situations).

Skills:

Good interpersonal skills and excellent team working and organizational skills.

Ability to supervise the rig maintenance staff and develop junior personnel.

Ability to communicate effectively. Must be able to Read/Write/Speak English Fluently.

Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter.

Must be capable of working in a confined Marine environment.

Must have excellent conflict resolution skills and be able to diplomatically handle confrontation.

Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer s sole discretion.

Be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Physically capable of performing emergency procedures including evacuations, fire drills, and other Emergencies.

Responsible for own personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
