Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Passenger Boarding Bridges including structural components, mechanical components, and electrical/hydraulic components.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults involving motors, drive assemblies, VFDs, relays, control panels, sensors, limit switches, and bridge movement interlocks.
  • Conduct routine inspections, operational functionality checks, alignment verification, and calibration tasks to ensure proper and safe bridge operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, hoses, valves, cylinders, and power pack units used in bridge lifting.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics such as checking continuity, voltage levels, control wiring, interlocks, and safety stop circuits within the bridge system.
  • Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and parts usage in the CMMS.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns, ensuring minimum disruption to aircraft turnaround and gate operations.
  • Provide guidance, technical direction, and on-the-job support for junior or newly assigned technicians.
  • Support system upgrades, bridge refurbishments, component replacements, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities follow company safety policies, airside rules, OEM recommendations, and operational standards.
  • Participate in internal audits, inspections, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Monitor spare parts, consumables usage and report low stock levels or critical component requirements to supervisors.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Diploma or Technical Certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or another maintenance-related discipline.
  • 4 5 years of experience working with Passenger Boarding Bridges or similar airport electromechanical systems, including mechanical drives, hydraulic systems, sensors, safety circuits, and electrical control components.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and automation systems used in PBB operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Good understanding of PLC interfaces, VFD-controlled motors, safety interlocks, limit switches, sensors, bridge movement controls, and other PBB functional systems.
  • Experience using CMMS for maintenance recording, work order completion, and asset history tracking.
  • Ability to guide, support, and mentor junior technicians during complex repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills (English) and ability to coordinate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong ownership of assigned tasks.
  • High awareness of airside safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and compliance with company maintenance standards.
  • Computer literacy for MS Office tools maintenance documentation and reporting.
  • Willingness to work shift rotations, weekends, nights, or emergency call-outs depending on operational requirements.
