Job Description
Job purpose :
The Business Operations Manager assumes enterprise-level responsibility for the business structure, revenue governance, and portfolio performance of Asyad Ports’ multi-terminal network .The role carries executive responsibility for a commercial portfolio worth millions of Omani riyals and an annual trading volume of millions of tons across strategic ports and dry ports .The position defines and governs the integrated business operating model that links land terminals to Oman’s main gateway ports, ensuring improved cargo allocation, margin sustainability, and trade corridor competitiveness .This role is responsible for company-wide profit and loss ( APFZ total revenue ) with decision-making authority regarding pricing strategy, business governance frameworks, and revenue assurance standards .
Main responsibilities :
Executive responsibility and scope :
Managing a commercial portfolio worth millions of Omani Riyals across multiple station entities .Supervising an annual volume of goods traded in millions of tons .Responsibility for boosting margins and commercial returns across the network .Strategic impact on the logistical competitiveness of the Sultanate of Oman and the performance of its supply chain .Authority to design and implement the pricing structure across stations .Controlling the governance of trade policies and contract frameworks .Independent decision-making regarding merchandise allocation and portfolio optimization .Executive representation in board-level reviews and strategic investment discussions .Direct ownership to generate revenue and ensure business sustainability .
Leading commercial execution :
Defining and institutionalizing the business operating model at the portfolio level across all Asyad Ports terminals .Leading the formulation of integrated business strategies that are aligned with corporate growth ambitions and national logistics objectives .Translating the organization's strategy into tangible business performance across multiple port entities .Working as a primary reference in commercial policy, pricing governance, and revenue management across the network .Leading the continuous alignment between strategy, commercial execution, and operational capability .
Revenue growth, negotiation, and business performance :
Possessing a strong profit and loss performance, including revenue growth, return management, and margin improvement .It bears full responsibility for station revenues, profitability and commercial return performance .Structuring and negotiating complex, long-term agreements with shipping lines, cargo owners, government agencies, and partners .Design and governance of portfolio pricing engineering to achieve a balance between competitiveness, margin and strategic positioning .Improving the allocation of goods across stations to maximize the overall portfolio return .Governance of commercial exposure risks and contract compliance across multiple entities .
Network integration and development of trade corridors :
Designing and improving the integrated business model that links dry land ports with main ports .Aligning service packages, pricing structures and logistics solutions across the station network .Developing integrated trade corridor proposals for regional and international clients .Providing commercial input for the development of new stations and expansion feasibility decisions .
Customer experience and retention :
Leading an enterprise-wide customer experience strategy to ensure superior levels of satisfaction and loyalty .Establishing frameworks for dealing with customers and service standards that drive long-term relationships .Overseeing the management of strategic accounts, escalating customer complaints, and governing service levels .Integrating customer experience metrics into business planning and performance reviews .
Product development and business innovation :
Strategic governance of products and services at the station level to ensure alignment with customer demand and trade trends .Leading joint innovation initiatives to market new port and land logistics solutions .Ensuring the financial viability and operational readiness of new commercial offerings before launch .
Governance, regulations, and performance management :
Establishing corporate governance frameworks for the organization that cover pricing, contract standards and revenue assurance .Supervising the use of APFZ and terminals for CRM and SAP systems as business intelligence systems .Leading monthly portfolio performance reviews combined with finance, operations, and executive leadership .Ensuring transparency, compliance and accountability for performance across all stations .
Organizational leadership and people development :
Leading senior business leaders in sales, customer experience, and product development .Building business capacity pathways that are compatible with long-term portfolio growth .Port Authority representatives in high-level industrial, governmental and strategic forums .
Qualifications, Experience and Skills :
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics or a related field .A Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is preferred .A certificate in sales leadership, revenue management, or CRM systems ( such as Salesforce) is an advantage .
Experiences :
At least 8 years of progressive commercial experience .At least 5 years in executive leadership within the ports, shipping or logistics sectors .A proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and achieving tangible growth in revenue and profits .A deep understanding of maritime economics, trade flows, and customer profitability models .Proven experience in corporate governance, profit and loss management and business transformation .
