Key job accountabilities:

Operational

• Designing and implementing redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure protection and integrity of data assets.
• Liaising with the Technology Transformation unit to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
• Providing database administration support and ensuring that the configuration of these are in line with the baseline security documents and other industry standards.
• Maintaining 24/7 availability of databases
• Implementing service delivery management on administration, maintenance and support of database.
• Leading the DB licensing process for the bank & ensuring compliance with licenses of respective vendors.
• Maintaining the DB environments (patching, upgrade, and lifecycle management)
• Leading the adherence to problem and change management procedures for DB
• Leading the updating of versions of the Database s (database server)
• Leading the data backup process by testing of tape backup integrity
• Leading the DB environments capacity to meet the needs of data owners and department managers.

Financial

• Supporting in the preparation of annual CAPEX and OPEX and tracking expenses for the DB budgets.

Compliance

• Complying with the Regulatory Requirements. Review CBO Examination Report/External Auditors Report/Internal Auditors Report and ensure necessary corrective action is taken on issues pertaining to IT
• Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Minimize Central Bank & Internal Audit observations and address the concerns in a timely and effective manner
• Complying to the Bank s Information Security Policy and other procedures.
• Compliance with regulations for DB platforms

Technical Competences

• Mandatory: Expert level of experience in Oracle Database 19c and later (single instance and RAC - ASM RMAN Performance Tuning - OEM).
• Required: Adequate knowledge of PostgreSQL.
• Advantage: Exposure to OCI, Huawei or other public cloud providers.
• Advantage: Exposure to Kubernetes, IaC, and automation.
• Nice to have: Microsoft SQL Server 2022 (including AlwaysOn Availability Groups & DAG) .
