Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Support the HSSE Head on aligning and executing the annual QHSSE plan with Asyad Drydock and Asyad Group objectives
Lead, coach, and manage the performance of direct reports
Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development
Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and risk-based decision-making throughout all HSE functions
Contribute to HSSE annual objectives, KPI development, and performance reviews
Supervise day-to-day activities, providing health and safety advice to staff and to ADC, encouraging teamwork, facilitating related professional work processes, and resolving any escalated issues in order to ensure that work is correctly prioritised and completed as per procedures, standards, and departmental requirements
Ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety procedures, standards, controls and systems across ADC projects to guarantee employee health and safety, production safety, compliance with requirements, and a responsible environmental attitude
Implement techniques and other analyses to assess health and safety risks in order to identify and prevent hazards that may lead to significant losses and forward this information to the HSSE Manager and concerned parties to minimise risks
Supervise inspections of all work sites and shipyards, warehouses as well as ships under repair and carry out periodic inspections in shipyard areas to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and identify non-compliance, unsafe practices and conditions
Ensure compliance with Omani laws, international regulations, and Asyad Group policies
Prepare and submit periodic HSE performance reports to the HSSE Head and management committees
Participate in internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and management reviews
Contribute to the Business Continuity Management and Emergency Preparedness Framework for the Drydock
Follow-up on investigations of all health and safety-related incidents including near-misses in order to identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive action
Contribute to the analyses of incidents and identify trends, vulnerabilities and liabilities that may be avoided by preventive techniques and procedures
Provide appropriate health and safety training and awareness in order to maintain and increase readiness and competency of personnel to respond to any emergency or safety hazard
Collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders as required on matters related to health, safety and environment in order to ensure updating of HSSE policies and procedures or creating awareness amongst the employees
Prepare or review in a timely and accurate manner, reports and statistics to meet HSSE policies and standards, and department requirements
Review and oversee the development of relevant environmental, health and safety, security and fire and rescue system files and documents in order to support internal and external auditors in the completion of their work
Motivate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices, improvement of processes and productivity improvement
Implement approved HSSE policies, processes, and procedures, provide instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner
Perform other HSSE Dept related duties or assignments as directed
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor s degree in engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related discipline
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent professional certification is mandatory
ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification
Minimum 7 and above years of experience in HSSE management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within shipyard, heavy industry, or oil & gas environment
Proven experience in developing and implementing HSSE systems in complex operational environments
In-depth knowledge of ISO standards (14001, 45001)
Expertise in incident investigation and root cause analysis
Proficient in risk assessment and mitigation strategies
Ability to foster a proactive and inclusive HSSE culture
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSSE management software
Leadership and team management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of Omani HSSE legislation, IMO standards, and international safety codes
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
