Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate coating systems and provide recommendations regarding procurement policies.
- Analyse and assess the coating requirements for tankers scheduled for dry dock, preparing comparative reports, and recommending optimal solutions.
- Evaluate, conduct technical surveys, and inspect tankers.
- Analyse notes and notifications on all reported defects, damages, and incidents, and assist in handling them.
- Evaluate bids and contracts related to hull treatment and other coatings used on tankers.
- Supervise the preparation of surfaces and hulls of tankers prior to coating application during dry docking.
- Supervise all coating application phases in accordance with international regulations (IMO/PSPC/ISO) and required technical specifications during docking.
- Ensure risk assessments are conducted for all activities and changes.
- Plan and implement surface maintenance for tankers, including developing a comprehensive fleet maintenance program.
- Monitor and evaluate the condition of the ship’s hull and other coating requirements in accordance with high marine industry standards.
- Stay up to date with the latest technologies, materials, and best practices in the field of marine coatings.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures to protect personnel and the environment during coating operations.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness among all individuals involved in coating operations.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education & Qualification : FROSIO Level II Coating Inspector Certificate (Norway) or equivalent, with practical experience in corrosion protection coatings and marine coatings for oil tankers.
Experience : 10 years of experience in the field, including at least 5 years in marine coatings for tankers and dry dock/refit operations and new shipyards, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
Skills:
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Proficient in computer use and applications.
