Job Description

As a Marine Electrician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing electrical systems on various marine vessels. Your expertise in diagnosing electrical issues, installing new systems, and ensuring that all equipment meets marine safety standards will be pivotal to the operation and safety of the vessels. You will work on a wide range of ships, including cargo ships, submarines, and yachts, diagnosing complex electrical problems, and implementing effective solutions. Your work will require an in-depth understanding of electrical components specific to the marine environment, compliance with maritime regulations, and the ability to work in diverse situations both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities
  • Inspect and diagnose issues in electrical systems aboard marine vessels efficiently.
  • Repair and replace faulty wiring, equipment, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install and test new electronic equipment, including navigational systems and engine controls.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols to minimize risk during electrical work.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks to prevent potential electrical failures.
  • Collaborate with other marine technicians to ensure comprehensive vessel maintenance.
  • Prepare reports detailing completed work, existing issues, and planned repairs.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest industry regulations and technological advancements.
  • Assist in the development of electrical maintenance plans for different vessel types.
  • Troubleshoot emergency issues and provide quick solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all marine regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Train junior electricians and support staff in standard operating procedures.

Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Marine Electrician or in a similar marine role is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems and maritime regulations is required.
  • Certification in Marine Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel and work long hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
