Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Engine Overhaul and Repair: Perform comprehensive overhauls, reconditioning, and repairs of two-stroke and four-stroke marine diesel engines. This includes disassembling, inspecting, and reassembling critical components like cylinder heads, liners, pistons, connecting rods, and crankshafts.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Accurately diagnose engine failures and performance issues using a combination of technical knowledge, diagnostic tools, and hands-on inspection.
- Precision Measurement: Use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, dial gauges, snap gauges, and vernier calipers to measure and record fine metrics, including dimensions, ovality, and wear.
- On-Site Services: Travel to client locations, including onboard vessels, to perform planned maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed service reports, including a list of work performed, a record of measurements, and spare parts used.
- Safety and Quality: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and quality standards, participating in pre-job safety meetings and performing risk assessments for each task.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a technical role, specifically with marine or industrial diesel engines. Prior sea-going experience is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engine systems and components.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and various hand and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and repair specifications.
Familiarity with various engine control systems and components. - General Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members.
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the nature of marine services.
