Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Material Specification Coordinator assists in the coordination and management of material specifications for construction projects. This role involves collaborating with project teams, researching materials, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with project managers, designers, and engineers to understand project requirements and specifications for materials.
Study the project tender documents including BOQ, drawings, specifications and prepare material log.
Research and evaluate materials based on performance, durability, cost, and environmental impact, and recommend suitable options for specific project needs.
Prepare material submittals, including technical data, performance criteria, and quality standards, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry regulations.
Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical data sheets, product samples, and quotations.
Submit materials by strictly adhering to the project program plan.
Review material submittals and samples submitted by suppliers, ensuring compliance with specified requirements and budget constraints.
Coordinate with joinery division for the samples preparation.
Coordinate with procurement team for supplier sources and sharing the material approvals for procuring purpose.
Provide technical support to project teams and address any material-related issues or concerns during the construction phase.
Maintain organized records of material specifications, approvals, and documentation for reference and audit purposes.
Attend allotted project internal meetings.
Being able to manage one or more teams on multiple projects.
Desired Candidate Profile
Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, and industry standards
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOQs, and specifications
Good understanding of material submittals and approval processes
Strong analytical and research skills for material selection
Excellent coordination and communication skills
Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Familiarity with ERP systems or construction management software is an advantage
Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach
