Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities


The material engineer is responsible for ensuring that all construction materials used in projects comply with approved specifications, quality standards, and project requirements. The role involves material submittals, inspections, testing coordination, and close collaboration with suppliers, consultants, and site teams to maintain the highest standards for high-end construction projects.

Desired Candidate Profile

Key Responsibilities:

Material Submittals & Approvals

  • Prepare, review, and submit material submittals in line with project specifications and contract requirements.

  • Coordinate with consultants for approvals and technical clarifications.

  • Maintain logs for material submittals and approvals. Material Inspection & Quality Control

  • Inspect materials delivered to the site and ensure compliance with approved samples and specifications.

  • Coordinate with the QA/QC team for material inspections and approvals.

  • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials at the site.

· Testing & Compliance

  • Coordinate laboratory testing for materials (concrete, steel, etc.) as required.

  • Review test reports and ensure compliance with project standards.

  • Follow up on non-conforming materials and implement corrective actions.

Supplier & Vendor Coordination

  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers regarding material specifications and approvals.

  • Evaluate supplier documents, technical data sheets, and compliance certificates. 

  Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain records of all material approvals, test results, and inspection reports. 

  • Prepare periodic reports on material status and approvals. 

  • Assist in the preparation of as-built documentation related to materials.

·  Coordination with Site Team

  • Work closely with site engineers and the procurement team to ensure timely availability of approved materials.

  • Support project teams in resolving material-related issues.


Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Material Engineering

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in construction (UAE experience preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, standards, and testing procedures

  • Familiarity with local authority and international standards (ASTM, BS, etc.)

  • Proficiency in MS Office and documentation systems


Experience & Skills:

  • Experience in high-end residential or luxury villa projects

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset

  • Good communication and coordination skills
