Job Description

A Mechanical BIM (Building Information Modeling) Modeler plays a crucial role in the construction and design sectors, focusing on creating detailed 3D representations of mechanical systems within a building. The role demands a blend of technical skills and creativity as the modeler must convert mechanical engineering designs into digital models that ensure efficient design and collaboration. These models are essential for visualizing the physical and functional features of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems, facilitating seamless inter-disciplinary coordination in construction projects. As a Mechanical BIM Modeler, you will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and contractors to optimize system designs and improve construction efficiency and effectiveness.


Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain accurate and detailed 3D models of mechanical systems using BIM software.
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to translate design concepts into virtual models effectively.
  • Coordinate with other discipline BIM modelers to resolve clashes and optimize designs.
  • Ensure that all models adhere to the necessary industry standards and project requirements.
  • Review and check the accuracy of all mechanical drawings before project implementation.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide insights and updates on model progress.
  • Utilize BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or Navisworks for modeling purposes.
  • Generate construction documentation from the BIM model for field construction teams.
  • Support team in project planning by providing critical spatial coordination insights.
  • Adapt to changes in project scope and design by updating models in real time.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) checks on generated models.
  • Provide training and support to junior modelers and new team members.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in BIM modeling for mechanical systems required.
  • Proficiency with BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC, and plumbing in construction.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes relevant to mechanical design.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently or as part of a team.
