Desired Candidate Profile
Inspection & Testing:
- Perform mechanical inspections on umbilical termination assemblies including machined parts, welded joints, and structural fittings.
- Validate dimensional accuracy using precision tools such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges.
- Assess the quality of assembly processes including crimping, soldering, and cable routing as part of the mechanical scope.
- Conduct visual checks and assist in evaluating test results (e.g., pressure tests, fit-up tests).
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure alignment with applicable codes and standards such as ASME, API, and client specifications.
- Record inspection data and maintain traceable documentation throughout the production cycle.
- Raise and track non-conformance reports (NCRs); assist in implementing corrective measures.
Coordination & Support:
- Interface with production, QA/QC, and engineering teams to resolve mechanical quality issues.
- Provide feedback for process improvements and participate in audits as needed.
- Support safe manufacturing practices and ensure adherence to project-specific requirements.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical inspection within oil & gas, subsea, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of welding processes, machining techniques, and associated inspection methods.
- Certification in welding/mechanical inspection (e.g., CSWIP, AWS-CWI) preferred.
- Experience with umbilical systems or subsea components is an added advantage.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and GD&T.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and reporting software.
- Solid grasp of manufacturing and quality control principles.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically capable of performing inspections in various working conditions.
