Job Purpose
Developing mechanical maintenance processes to ensure the efficient and sustainable operation of equipment and systems, and improving technical and economic performance in accordance with company strategies and best engineering practices.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with approved policies, processes, procedures and instructions.
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and practices, cost optimization, productivity improvement, and efficiency.
Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and standards within the water transport company and related roles such as (human capital, safety, industrial security, risks, cybersecurity, etc.).
Escalating problems to ensure challenges and issues are closed efficiently and in a timely manner.
Develop and implement mechanical maintenance strategies to ensure optimal operation and improve equipment reliability through preventive and corrective maintenance programs, in coordination with senior management.
Evaluate the performance of equipment and systems, analyze the causes of recurring failures, develop strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs, and develop plans to improve maintenance procedures.
Implementing operational projects, reviewing the scope of work, adopting engineering modifications to improve equipment performance, and ensuring their implementation in accordance with technical standards.
Identifying equipment and spare parts needs, reviewing technical specifications, analyzing offers from suppliers and contractors, and ensuring that procurement processes are carried out in a way that achieves economic and technical efficiency.
Implementing occupational safety systems and regulations, monitoring compliance with health and safety requirements, and establishing preventive measures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
Collaborating with other departments to coordinate maintenance work, reviewing the performance of suppliers and contractors, and evaluating the quality of services provided to ensure compliance with operational standards.
Providing periodic reports on equipment performance and maintenance work, analyzing operational data, and proposing engineering solutions to improve operations and increase equipment efficiency.
Develop and implement emergency maintenance plans, review business continuity plans, and take the necessary measures to ensure a rapid response to emergency breakdowns and minimize downtime.
Preparing estimated budgets for the department’s needs for resources and spare parts, monitoring operating costs, and ensuring improved return on investment in maintenance operations.

Supervising the work of supervisors in the department, evaluating their performance, and completing the approved evaluation forms.
Setting the scope of work and overseeing the implementation of operational and capital projects.
Supervises the completion of routine periodic maintenance work and daily corrective maintenance work.
He supervises the completion of emergency work stoppages as quickly as possible, writes reports on the causes of stoppages, and takes the necessary precautions to avoid a recurrence of these stoppages.
He makes field visits periodically to monitor the implementation of work according to the programs planned by the planning department.
He supervises the inspection of mechanical equipment, diagnoses and identifies the causes of malfunctions, and seeks appropriate methods for repair work and improving the performance of that equipment.
