Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Project Quality Control and Delivery:
- Leads mechanical completion, FAT/SAT, punch-list clearance, and system handover processes.
- Ensures readiness and reliability of critical emergency and safety equipment
- Initiates corrective and improvement actions to address deviations from approved work procedures and lessons learned.
Construction and Supervision:
- Oversees the execution of mechanical work offshore, including inspections, overhauls, modifications, and upgrades of rotating equipment, jacking systems, cranes, hydraulics, and piping systems.
- Reviews and approves work packs and procedures to ensure technical quality, safety, and regulatory compliance at all stages.
- Supervises mechanics, rigging teams, and contractors during project execution to ensure safety, compliance, and performance.
Budget Management:
- Contributes to budget savings and optimization by proper planning and better approaches.
- Contributes to revenue gains by delivering projects and activities ahead of schedule.
Stakeholder Management:
- Coordinates with service companies, vendors, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle, including quoting, scheduling, cost reviews, design, assembly, spare parts management, FAT participation, and deliveries.
- Interfaces with classification societies, flag state inspectors, and 3rd-party auditors to secure approvals and certifications.
- Collaborates with internal departments such as Marketing, Workshops, Operations, and Manufacturing to resolve technical or operational challenges.
Team Management:
- Provides technical direction and mentoring to junior engineers and offshore mechanical crews, enhancing execution capability and safety culture.
- Trains and guides team members on best safety practices, regulatory compliance, and offshore operational standards.
Desired Candidate Profile
Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years experience in mechanical engineering roles, including project-based work in drilling or offshore rig environments.
- Strong technical expertise in offshore mechanical systems, including cranes, jacking systems, heavy rotating equipment, hydraulics, and associated components.
- Proficient in Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS), ERP platforms, and project management tools for project and maintenance tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and perform mechanical inspections, commissioning activities, FAT/SAT, manage overhaul operations, and prepare detailed technical reports,
- Familiarity with international classification standards (IACS members), flag state requirements, and relevant offshore industry codes (API, ISO, IMO), and other regulatory requirements
- Skilled in risk assessment techniques (HAZOP, FMEA, RCFA) to ensure reliability and safe operations.
- Strong knowledge of SIMOPS coordination and permit-to-work systems.
- Experienced in managing mechanical completion, punch-list clearance, and handover processes.
