Job Description Mechanical Technical Office Team Leader Engineer (BIM)

Position: Team Leader Mechanical (BIM)

Role Purpose

To lead and manage the Mechanical Technical Office team in delivering accurate designs, drawings, and BIM models for mechanical systems across various construction projects. The role ensures coordination, compliance with standards, and integration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives within budget and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead the Mechanical Technical Office team (engineers, draftsmen, modelers).
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Provide mentoring, technical guidance, and training to junior staff.
  • BIM & Technical Coordination
  • Manage the development of BIM models (LOD 300 500) for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting).
  • Ensure BIM outputs comply with project requirements, standards, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Conduct clash detection and resolve conflicts with electrical, structural, and architectural teams.
  • Design & Documentation
  • Review and validate design drawings, shop drawings, as-built drawings, and material submittals.
  • Ensure compliance with contract specifications, codes, and client requirements.
  • Perform quantity take-offs, BOQs, and technical reports for mechanical works.
  • Project Support
  • Provide technical solutions to site teams during project execution.
  • Participate in technical meetings with consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Support procurement by reviewing mechanical material specifications and vendor submittals.
  • Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to the company s QA/QC policies, ISO standards, and project-specific requirements.
  • Verify that all mechanical works align with ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and local authority regulations.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in construction/engineering firms, with at least 3 years in a leadership/Team Leader role.
  • Strong expertise in BIM applications (Revit MEP, Navisworks) and AutoCAD.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical systems design and installation (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting).
  • Experience in shop drawings, as-built drawings, and BOQ preparation.
  • Familiarity with construction project cycles, tendering processes, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of BIM modeling and coordination.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, BIM software, AutoCAD, and project management tools.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
