Roles & Responsibilities

Desired Candidate Profile

General Mechanical Maintenance and Support

· Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities for rotating and static equipment such as pumps, compressors, blowers, valves, fin fan coolers, and auxiliary mechanical systems.

· Assist in dismantling, inspection, replacement of defective parts, reassembly, and alignment of mechanical components.

· Carry out cleaning, lubrication, and inspection activities as per the maintenance checklist.

· Provide manpower support for lifting, shifting, and alignment of mechanical assemblies.

· Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure safe work area practices during maintenance and outage activities.

Steam Turbine Inspection & Maintenance Activities

Technicians shall support Siemens TFA during the Steam Turbine Generator minor inspection, which includes assistance in:

A. Pre-Stoppage Activities
• Record vibration, temperature, and operating parameters (load, speed, ambient conditions) for all bearings and casings.

B. During Stoppage
• Monitor coasting time from full speed to turning gear engagement.
• Observe and report any abnormal sounds (rubbing, grinding, friction) during coast-down and turning gear operation.

C. Post-Stoppage Activities
• Support insulation removal and reinstallation.
• Assist in dismantling, inspection, and maintenance of HP Stop and Control Valves, including actuator delinking, NDT, repair, and reassembly.
• Inspect and clean steam strainers; perform ultrasonic thickness checks.
• Carry out bearing inspections (journal, thrust, radial) — check white metal condition, measure clearances, inspect seals and oil lines.
• Conduct thrust bearing inspection and verify axial float and preload.
• Support borescope inspection of HP/LP sections for blades and diaphragms.
• Assist in gearbox inspection, backlash check, and reassembly with new lubricant if required.

D. Startup Support Activities
• Support Siemens/OEM during startup, monitoring vibration, temperature, and acoustic performance.
• Record valve actuation and operational parameters during the start-up sequence.

Skill Requirements for Technicians

· Minimum 8 years’ experience in generator maintenance in power plants.

· Should have at least experience of 2 STG outage work.

· Familiar with generator components and inspection tools.

· Experience in handling borescopes, insulation tester (megger), and bearing inspection tools.

· Knowledge of plant safety and permit-to-work procedures.

4. Safety and Compliance

· All work shall be executed under valid PTW (Permit to Work) in coordination with HSE and Shift In-Charge.

· Ensure use of PPE and strict adherence to site safety rules and isolation procedures.

· Follow OEM and site-specific quality standards throughout the activity.

5. Documentation and Reporting

· Maintain daily manpower attendance, work logs, and progress reports.

· Document all inspection readings, measurement data, and photographic evidence where applicable.

· Submit completion reports for each major activity or turbine subsystem.
