Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recommends to hospital director the appointment of clinical departments heads.
- Ensure consistent application and implementation of health care policies with relevant regulations and their access to all members of the medical staff.
- Comply with CBAHI standards and other regulations.
- Medical Director supervises all medical committees and compliance with their recommendations and decisions, such as but not limited to:
- Medical executive board.
- Credentialing and Privileging Committee and its decisions and compliance.
- Mortality and morbidity committee that reviews mortalities or unexpected outcomes of care.
- Utilization review committee that assesses the medical necessity of services furnished by the hospital.
- Blood utilization committee approves all policies and procedures that involve the ordering and administration of blood and blood products.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation committee ensures that the team members have cardiac life support training as appropriate, discusses all codes in the hospital, recommends actions for improvement, and evaluates those actions for effectiveness.
- The infection prevention and control committee reviews infection control policies and procedures.
- Peer review activities.
- Analyze audit results to assure patient care meets the expected standards.
- Supervise and assess operations of all medical Units such as Intensive Care Unit, Medical Day Care, Integrated Discharge Planning, and outpatient clinics, etc.
- Lead the development of clinical and workload metrics, indicators, and outcome measures and work with care providers to improve performance.
- Recruit medical staff & provide regular feedback on performance or performance improvement issues.
- Strategy Development for efficient resource utilization.
- Assessment of supplies, equipment, and physical facilities for budget planning.
- Provide consultation to the medical staff; collaboration to develop, manage and evaluate clinical programs considering patient needs, service delivery interrelationships, and service potential within a complex environment to assess the efficiency of corrective measures.
- Evaluation and Patient progress documentation.
- Monitor hospital occupancy and use of overflow spaces; develop protocols to address transition demands.
Qualification & Experience Requirements:
- Graduate from a recognized Medical School.
- Board certification in a primary specialty is required.
- Current Registration in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
- Healthcare management/leadership training is highly required.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant Clinical Experience.
- Minimum 5 years of Managerial experience in a Health care facility.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of regulations established by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties related to healthcare practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced & stressful environment.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously within a complex environment.
