Roles & Responsibilities


Job Summary:

As a Medical Laboratory Technician at IIQAF, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist the Forensic Pathologist in the investigation and diagnosis of criminal cases. Your primary focus will be on assisting in the analysis of bodily fluids, tissues and other evidence collected from crime scenes, autopsies, and other sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, label, and process specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests, such as blood typing, toxicology, and DNA analysis.
  • Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Prepare and analyze samples for evidence of criminal activity, poisoning, or diseases.
  • Record and document test results accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain strict procedures in handling, testing, and disposing of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment and ensure proper inventory control.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date with advancements in the field.
  • Assist with administrative duties as assigned by the Forensic Pathologist.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
  • Current certification or eligibility for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
