Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Oversee MEP works from design to execution, ensuring integration with civil and architectural works.
Monitor and inspect MEP installations on-site, ensuring adherence to Qatar Construction Standards (QCS) and international codes.
Ensure all MEP works comply with HSE regulations, Qatar Civil Defense (QCD) requirements, and local municipality guidelines.
Liaise with clients, consultants, main contractors, and design teams to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution. Work closely with the project planning team to align MEP activities with overall project timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Review, interpret and coordinate MEP drawings, shop drawings and as-built drawings.
- Track and manage technical documentation: submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), method statements, material approvals, drawing logs.
- Liaise between the MEP team and other disciplines (architecture, structure, civil, BIM) to ensure integration and clash-free coordination.
- Ensure compliance of MEP systems with project specifications, contract documents, codes and standards.
- Attend coordination meetings, record minutes, follow up on action items and ensure issues are resolved.
- Monitor installation progress of MEP works on site, ensure quality and that installations are as per drawings and specifications.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering schedules, technical logs, and archive documentation for handover.
- Support procurement and tendering activities for MEP systems: gathering technical data, verifying vendor documentation, liaising with subcontractors.
- Resolve coordination issues on site, escalate when necessary and proactively minimise delays in submission/approval cycles.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational background: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or sometimes Electrical Engineering/Civil with MEP specialization) is commonly listed.
Strong knowledge of MEP systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical (power & low voltage), fire protection, and associated controls.
Proficiency in technical software/tools: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), AutoCAD, MS Project or Primavera for scheduling, maybe BIM software depending on project.
Good communication, coordination, problem-solving and documentation skills. Being able to liaise with consultants, contractors, internal teams.
Knowledge of local/regional codes and standards (in Qatar/Middle East). Also familiarity with the construction environment in Qatar is preferred.
At least in some postings the candidate must hold a valid Qatar residence visa or be locally available in Qatar.
