Roles & Responsibilities
Position Overview Responsible for curating, managing, and merchandising antique and heritage jewellery pieces that reflect historical value, craftsmanship, and brand storytelling. The role combines strong product knowledge with commercial acumen to ensure collections are presented, priced, and positioned to optimize sales while preserving authenticity and heritage appeal.
Key Responsibilities
Curate, manage, and grow antique jewellery collections aligned with brand aesthetics, historical authenticity, and customer preferences.
Source authentic antique jewellery from trusted channels, ensuring adherence to quality, provenance, and brand standards.
Evaluate jewellery based on era, craftsmanship, materials, gemstones, condition, rarity, and market desirability.
Coordinate restoration, conservation, and quality control processes while preserving the original integrity and historical value of each piece.
Maintain comprehensive product documentation, including historical narratives, certifications, provenance, valuation records, and compliance details.
Develop assortments rooted in regional antique and traditional jewellery preferences across categories such as Temple, Nakshi, Vanki, Ottiyanam, antique gold, heavy bridal, long harams, Kasavu-inspired, Palakka, Manga motifs, and related styles.
Monitor inventory health, SKU aging, sell-through ratios, gold weight productivity, value index (VI), and category contribution.
Formulate gold rate–based pricing models incorporating labour charges, making charges, value additions, and margin protection amid gold price volatility.
Implement pricing strategies reflecting gold rates, rarity, craftsmanship, market benchmarks, and customer willingness to pay.
Conduct market and competitive research on antique jewellery trends, collector behavior, regional benchmarks, craftsmanship standards, and festive assortments.
Track gold price movements, inflationary impact, buying sentiment, and macroeconomic indicators to inform buying and assortment decisions.
Analyze walk-in feedback, returns, customization requests, usage occasions, and regional preferences to refine product strategies.
Perform post-launch reviews assessing sell-through, attribute-level performance, motif success, and customer response to strengthen future collections.
Collaborate with design teams and karigar to translate antique inspirations into contemporary collections through concept sketches, CADs, prototyping, accurate motif detailing, and weight estimations.
Work with 22K/24K and 18K gold standards, including hallmarking norms, stone setting guidelines, permissible weight variations, and traditional craftsmanship practices.
Lead the development of seasonal and thematic collections—from mood boards and sampling through casting, finishing, QC, and final launch.
Manage timelines across sampling, approvals, costing, production planning, and phased regional store rollout.
Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to production delays, QC gaps, weight variances, assortment imbalances, and supply constraints.
Partner with visual merchandising teams to present collections through compelling storytelling and elevated luxury displays.
Support sales teams with structured product training, historical context, client-facing narratives, and expertise for high-value and heirloom pieces.
Collaborate with marketing and e-commerce teams on content development, catalogues, collection launches, and storytelling for antique and heritage jewellery.
Align assortment depth and mix with regional demand nuances, store profiles, and customer purchasing behavior.
Ensure adherence to legal, ethical, and international trade regulations governing antique jewellery, precious metals, gemstones, and cross-border sourcing.
