Job Description:

• Experience in mainframe batch monitoring and console operations
• Monitor consoles for any abnormalities and escalate to relevant stakeholders for resolution.
• Hands on experience in performing IPL and HMC activities.
• Good knowledge of JCL
• Ability to monitor, correct, and escalate mf system & subsystem related issues
• Coordinate and modify schedules for adhoc requests, following customer business priorities
• Respond promptly to requests for priority job execution
• Notify the customer business if special requests will affect the timely completion of other work and provide schedule status updates
• Follow JCL standards in supporting the creation and testing of JCL
• Establish and document standards for production jobs, providing technical assistance to correct incidents and errors in production JCL where appropriate
• Invoke resolution and restart procedures in case of failures in batch jobs
• Check control totals and condition codes to monitor proper application executions as defined by the customer business
• Monitor scheduled batch jobs and batch cycles, resolving any non-application scheduling conflicts
• Execute re-runs as requested by the customer business and restart jobs according to operation procedures and documentation, resolving abnormal terminations when appropriate
• Follow job run documentation and notify the customer business as appropriate and defined by the run documentation
• Create incident reports for job abnormalities consistent with the Incident Management Process, producing daily batch production report summaries and monthly metrics on batch job executions, abend rates, etc.
• Check all queues to ensure batch completion and online regions startups.
• Perform production promotion activities as requested by a customer business using Changeman or other configuration management tools
• Exposure to output management tools
• Participation in disaster recovery tests
• Coordinate all mainframe deliverables in disaster recovery tests

Good to Have:

• Knowledge of output management tools such as View Direct, Dispatch, POOL-NT, etc.
• Experience in performing calendar resolving tasks in scheduling
• Experience with Sys Ops and additional scheduling tools (CA-7, ESP)

Soft Skills/Other Skills:

• Experience with Control-M and Changeman.
• Knowledge of JCL and TSO commands
• Excellent communication and conversation skills (verbal and written)
• Good documentation skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Strong customer handling skills
• Ability to handle unforeseen situations
