Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished cosmetic products to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Develop, validate, and implement microbiological methods in accordance with industry regulations and company protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and functioning optimally.
  • Prepare detailed reports on microbiological findings, deviations, and corrective actions for internal and regulatory review.
  • Collaborate with research and development teams to assess the microbiological safety of new formulations and product innovations.
  • Investigate and resolve microbiological issues, including contamination incidents, by identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate and organized laboratory records, ensuring traceability and compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Participate in internal audits and support external inspections by providing technical expertise and documentation.
  • Stay current with advancements in microbiological techniques, industry trends, and regulatory requirements relevant to cosmetics.
  • Train and mentor junior laboratory staff on microbiological procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably within the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or personal care industry.
  • Strong understanding of microbiological testing methods, including microbial limits, preservative efficacy, and environmental monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO, GMP).
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, incubators, and microscopes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory safety and hygiene.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
