Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished cosmetic products to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Develop, validate, and implement microbiological methods in accordance with industry regulations and company protocols.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and functioning optimally.
- Prepare detailed reports on microbiological findings, deviations, and corrective actions for internal and regulatory review.
- Collaborate with research and development teams to assess the microbiological safety of new formulations and product innovations.
- Investigate and resolve microbiological issues, including contamination incidents, by identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate and organized laboratory records, ensuring traceability and compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Participate in internal audits and support external inspections by providing technical expertise and documentation.
- Stay current with advancements in microbiological techniques, industry trends, and regulatory requirements relevant to cosmetics.
- Train and mentor junior laboratory staff on microbiological procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably within the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or personal care industry.
- Strong understanding of microbiological testing methods, including microbial limits, preservative efficacy, and environmental monitoring.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO, GMP).
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, incubators, and microscopes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory safety and hygiene.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
