Roles & Responsibilities

American School Dhahran High School Principal, Brent A. Wingers, seeks an experienced, forward-thinking and passionate educator to lead and serve as the Middle / High School Dean of Students of American School Dhahran beginning August 1, 2026.

The Dean of Students position at ISG would:

  • collaborate on student well-being and belonging as well as social-emotional and personal growth
  • lead in pro-active discipline management, prevention and response
  • support child protection alongside other leaders at ISG
  • promote and collaborate on positive campus culture for students
  • ensure the school's values and educational frameworks are alive in the day-to-day learning at ISG
  • provide designed teacher development of classroom and behavior management

The Dean of Students at American School Dhahran will serve as an integral member of the campus leadership team, responsible for cultivating a supportive, positive, and academically disciplined student culture in the Middle and High School. The Dean of Students will partner with teachers, counselors, parents, and leadership to nurture students social, emotional, and behavioral development, while promoting our values of respect, responsibility, integrity, and community. This role will require a dynamic teacher leader who can inspire students, faculty and staff while contributing to the district-wide vision and strategic priorities.

The Dean of Students will join a campus leadership team that includes the two Principals, and three Assistant Principals, teacher facilitator leaders, grade level teacher leaders, and teacher department heads.

American School Dhahran at a glance

First established in 1962, American School Dhahran offers an American, standards-based curriculum to 1,350 KG1 to Grade 12 students, capped by either the AP Capstone Diploma or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Agency and autonomy increase as students progress, and students are given ample opportunities to grow through an exciting range of enrichment programs, and after-school activities, athletic programs and leadership opportunities. One Principal and two Assistant Principals lead the Elementary and Middle School while one Principal and one Assistant Principal leading the High School along with this position, Dean of Students, supporting students in MS and HS.

JOB DUTIES

The successful Dean of Students candidate at ISG on the campus of American School Dhahran will serve as a key member of the campus leadership team, responsible for cultivating a supportive, positive, and academically disciplined student culture in the Middle and High Schools. The Dean will partner with teachers, counselors, parents, and administrators to nurture students social, emotional, and behavioral development, while promoting our values of respect, responsibility, integrity, and community.

Child Protection

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people ( child protection ).
  • Collaborate with campus and district leaders in supporting child protection.

Student Support & Culture

  • Lead initiatives to build and sustain a positive, inclusive campus climate where students belong, feel connected, supported, and motivated.
  • Coordinate with counselors, teachers, and parents to identify students in need, develop intervention plans with student support services, and support their social-emotional learning.
  • Manage student behavior systems, including restorative practices, behavior referrals, and disciplinary responses, in alignment with ISG policies.
  • Track and analyze attendance, behavior, and discipline data to proactively address trends and support student success.
  • Enrich, expand, implement, and oversee advisory or mentorship programs to connect students with adult role models and peers.

Academic & Pastoral Leadership

  • Collaborate with campus leadership to align behavior expectations with ISG s mission, learning principles, core values, and graduate profile.
  • Observe classrooms, support teachers with behavior management strategies, and promote a culture of mutual respect and high standards supporting wellbeing and belonging.
  • Collaborate on developing school policies, including student code of conduct and behavior management, which includes supporting students through all aspects of behavior re-integration.

Community Engagement & Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and the campus leadership to communicate expectations, provide guidance, and build trust.
  • Facilitate grade-level or cohort meetings, student-support team meetings, and parent-family conferences as needed to support behavior management founded on wellbeing and belonging concepts.
  • Partner with extracurricular, athletics, and activities leaders to support student engagement beyond the classroom.
  • Coordinate with the central office leadership, schoolwide campus leadership, teacher leaders, counselors, and other leaders across all of ISG related to student wellbeing, character education, and culture.

Safety, Wellbeing & Compliance

  • Promote student safety, well-being, and safeguarding in the school community, ensuring adherence to ISG s child-protection policies.
  • Lead crisis response, conflict resolution, and restorative circles when needed, working closely with counseling, campus leadership, and parents.
  • Develop and conduct professional learning for faculty, staff, and student leaders on behavior management, restorative practices, and trauma-informed approaches.

Professional Learning & Leadership

  • Coach and mentor teachers, particularly around classroom management, student engagement, and socio-emotional supports.
  • Lead or support professional learning with a focus on restorative discipline, social-emotional learning, and student well-being and belonging.
  • Serve on the campus leadership team contributing to strategic planning, school improvement initiatives, and accreditation efforts.
  • Represent the campus in parent, community, and district-level meetings as needed.

Other

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal.
