Roles & Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

Planning & Preparation for Learning

  • Design lessons and units aligned with NGSS Science Standards and the AISJ curriculum framework in collaboration with grade-level teams.

  • Contribute to the development of curriculum documentation that supports both horizontal and vertical alignment.

  • Plan with attention to differentiation, student engagement, and anticipated misconceptions.

  • Develop clear plans for summative and formative assessments to monitor student learning.

  • Demonstrate strong content knowledge across core subject areas and social-emotional learning.

Classroom Management

  • Communicate and uphold high expectations with clarity, consistency, and fairness.

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students while fostering a welcoming and supportive classroom culture.

  • Establish and sustain effective classroom routines throughout the school year.

  • Promote student ownership, self-discipline, and responsibility.

  • Address discipline concerns proactively, maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.

Delivery of Instruction

  • Utilize effective instructional strategies, materials, and groupings to engage and motivate all learners.

  • Design lessons with clear, measurable learning goals aligned to standards and unit outcomes.

  • Differentiate and scaffold instruction skillfully to meet diverse learner needs.

  • Encourage active learning, problem-solving, and student inquiry.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate regularly with colleagues to plan units, share instructional strategies, analyze student work, and reflect on practice.

  • Guide students in setting goals, self-assessing, and taking ownership of their learning.

  • Support students in developing self-regulation and reflective learning habits.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Communicate with parents respectfully and sensitively, honoring diverse backgrounds.

  • Demonstrate belief in every student s ability to meet high standards.

  • Provide clear expectations for learning and behavior.

  • Share timely updates regarding academic progress, behavior, and successes.

  • Keep parents informed about curriculum and suggest ways to support learning at home.

  • Participate in after-school activities and community events.

  • Maintain open, professional communication with the school community.

  • Fulfill assigned supervision duties.
