Migration Lead (IP Backbone Network)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage the end-to-end migration and cutover strategy for IP Backbone and Mobile Packet Core networks.
• Prepare detailed MOP documents including pre checks, migration steps, rollback plans, and post-validation activities.
• Review, validate, and approve MOPs with Core, IP, Security, and NOC teams to ensure all dependencies are captured.
• Plan migration timelines and service impact windows in coordination with Core, OSS, and Operations teams.
• Lead cutover execution during maintenance windows, ensuring strict adherence to change management processes.
• Perform or oversee hands-on configuration and validation of IP and Mobile Core network elements during migration.
• Ensure service continuity across EPC, IMS, PCRF/PCF, WiFi Calling, and AAA & charging domains during migration.
• Conduct service testing post-migration (user-plane validation, signaling verification, session continuity, QoS checks).
• Troubleshoot issues in real time during migration events and coordinate resolution across cross-functional teams.
• Maintain real-time progress reporting, highlighting key milestones, issues, and decisions to project stakeholders.
• Document post-migration results, performance metrics, and lessons learned.
• Ensure all activities comply with network security, quality, and operational standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor s degree in Telecommunications, Computer, or Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in IP and Mobile Core network integration, migration, and operations within telecom operators.
• Demonstrated experience leading live service migrations impacting Mobile Core and IP transport layers.
• Strong knowledge of mobile core dependencies and how transport changes affect subscriber data, signaling, and session continuity.
• Experience working under change management and service assurance frameworks in Tier-1 telecom environments.
• Professional certifications such as CCNP-SP, JNCIP-SP, or equivalent are preferred.
• Proven hands-on experience in configuration, migration, and testing of IP and Mobile Core network elements.
• Strong understanding of Mobile Core architecture and interfaces.
• In-depth experience with routing and transport technologies , IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, LDP, Segment Routing, and QoS
• Expertise in MOP development, change validation, cutover execution, and rollback handling.
• Practical experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting.
