Job Summary

The Milker is responsible for carrying out safe, hygienic, and efficient milking of camels in accordance with Camelicious farm procedures, animal welfare standards, hygiene requirements, and milk quality expectations. The role supports milk production by ensuring clean milking practices, proper handling of animals, cleaning of milking areas, and immediate reporting of health, hygiene, or equipment concerns.

Key Responsibilities

Milking Operations

• Perform camel milking activities as per assigned schedule, work instructions, and supervisor guidance.

• Handle camels calmly, safely, and humanely during milking operations.

• Ensure udder cleaning, pre-milking preparation, milking process, and post-milking handling are carried out hygienically.

• Support smooth movement of camels to and from milking areas.

• Assist in maintaining milk flow, avoiding contamination, and ensuring proper handling of milk collection equipment.

Hygiene & Milk Quality

• Follow strict personal hygiene, handwashing, PPE, and milking hygiene requirements.

• Clean and sanitise milking areas, equipment, containers, and tools as instructed.

• Immediately report abnormal milk, sick animals, injury, swelling, mastitis symptoms, or unusual animal behaviour to the supervisor / veterinary team.

• Prevent contamination of milk by following all farm hygiene and quality instructions.

Animal Welfare & Safety

• Treat animals with care and avoid rough handling, shouting, beating, or unsafe practices.

• Report animal injuries, stress, illness, lameness, feeding issues, or abnormal behavior immediately.

• Follow farm movement rules, camel handling safety, and assigned work procedures.

Cleaning & General Support

• Assist in cleaning milking parlor areas, holding areas, equipment areas, and surrounding work locations.

• Support feeding, animal movement, basic farm cleaning, and other related duties when required.

• Follow supervisor instructions for shift duties and emergency operational requirements.
