Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

To coordinate and perform monitoring activities within a specific coverage area and provide reports to support the effective delivery of assistance packages, including effective coordination of all TPM and FMA activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

  • Verify the planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, resolving routine issues and escalating where appropriate, to ensure that the quantity distributed, and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards.
  • Conduct regular field visits, conduct key informant interviews and focus group discussions to understand the operational context, underlying issues and identify actionable solutions.
  • Liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments to support programme reviews and improve services.
  • Prepare weekly monitoring plans for WFP Field Monitoring Assistant (FMA) team, following standard operating procedures on minimum monitoring coverage requirements and risk-based monitoring planning.
  • Allocate tasks to FMA staff, providing guidance and on-the-job training to support their development and high performance.
  • Suggest improvements to field monitoring processes and procedures for efficient implementation of the assistance programmes.
  • Provide standard trainings for third party monitoring (TPM) teams on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools and methods in order to support them to monitor and to contribute to the visibility of WFP in the coverage areas.
  • Prepare field mission reports to document programme implementation.
  • Follow set emergency response processes and procedures for emergency food assistance.
  • Other support as required.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education:

Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. Completion of BA degree in social sciences, statistics, or computer science, or and related disciplines is desirable.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of post-secondary school relevant working experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, analysis, reporting, program assistance, human development, or a humanitarian context or any other related field.
