Performance Energy is supporting a major Middle East drilling campaign focused on Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations in technically challenging loss environments.

We are seeking experienced MPD Field Engineers / Choke Operators to support drilling operations where total losses and PMCD techniques are critical to maintaining well control and operational performance.

Role Purpose

The MPD Field Engineer / Choke Operator will be responsible for executing MPD operations on site, ensuring precise pressure control, monitoring well behaviour, and maintaining safe drilling conditions in complex loss scenarios.

This role is critical to maintaining well integrity and supporting continuous drilling in high-risk environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate MPD choke systems and associated equipment during drilling operations

• Monitor and control wellbore pressure in real-time

• Support drilling operations in total loss and PMCD environments

• Interpret well data and respond to changing downhole conditions

• Work closely with drilling teams and client representatives

• Ensure compliance with HSE and operational standards at all times

Technical Project Context

• Operation Type: Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD)

• Environment: Onshore Middle East (high temperature)

• Focus: Total loss zones and PMCD drilling techniques

• Objective: Maintain well control and enable continuous drilling in loss-prone formations

Essential Experience

• Minimum 5+ years experience in MPD or drilling operations

• Proven experience operating in total loss environments (PMCD)

• Strong understanding of MPD systems and pressure control principles

• Experience working in high-temperature, desert environments

• Ability to operate effectively in real-time drilling scenarios

Preferred / Advantageous Background

• Experience as an MPD Choke Operator or Field Engineer

• Previous Middle East drilling experience

• Strong understanding of well control and drilling optimisation

• Experience working in technically challenging formations

Certifications (Mandatory)

• Well Control Certification (IADC or IWCF)

• Relevant offshore/onshore medical (OGUK or equivalent preferred)
