Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. Subject Knowledge
Maintain high expectations and standards while fostering a positive school ethos.
Support target-setting processes within the music curriculum.
Design engaging musical experiences to develop students' skills and appreciation of global music cultures.
Stay up-to-date with recent developments in music education, including new technologies and teaching strategies.
Assist in organizing music-related events such as concerts, recitals, and school productions.
Attend meetings and professional development sessions as required.
Promote inclusion by celebrating diversity through music and providing equal opportunities.
Track and document students progress through formative assessments and evaluations.
2. Curriculum Design and Adaptation
Develop exciting and engaging learning opportunities to enhance musical knowledge and performance skills.
Align lesson plans with the NCfE (National Curriculum for England), integrating cross-curricular learning where appropriate.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring inclusivity and support for diverse abilities.
Utilize digital technology to enhance music learning experiences.
Plan and implement effective use of resources such as instruments, software, and learning materials.
Communicate learning progress with parents, providing insights into students' growth, mindset, and musical development.
3. Learning and Teaching
Create and nurture a positive learning environment that fosters high expectations and student engagement.
Establish a culture of trust and respect, encouraging collaboration and confidence in musical expression.
Inspire a love for music by integrating various genres, styles, and global perspectives.
Ensure a student-centered approach, adapting lessons based on individual interests and learning paces.
Encourage active participation in music-related extracurricular activities and school performances.
Support students in transition between year groups by building strong foundational skills.
4. Collaboration and Community
Regularly reflect on and evaluate teaching effectiveness to continuously improve practices.
Participate in coaching, peer observations, and professional learning sessions.
Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Work alongside teaching assistants, external music professionals, and educational support staff to provide comprehensive musical education.
Engage in action research to explore innovative teaching methodologies.
Contribute to the school s co-curricular program, such as choir, orchestra, or band activities.
Build strong partnerships with parents and the community, encouraging musical development beyond the classroom.
Support and uphold the school s policies on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
5. Safeguarding, Inclusion, and Well-Being

Take on additional duties as required by school leadership.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Music Education or a related field (Master s preferred).
Valid teaching credential with at least three years of experience in music education.
Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
Sensitivity to students' individual learning needs and abilities.
Proficiency in IT for classroom instruction and administrative tasks.
Experience with a variety of musical instruments, music software, and performance techniques.
